J&N Records started in 1981 when brothers Juan and Nelson opened a small record shop in Queens, NY. Quickly, the store became a neighborhood staple, greatly due to the charismatic personalities of the brothers. And their role as retailers soon expanded as artists approached them in search of good production and distribution opportunities.
By 1990, Juan & Nelson had established J&N Distributors and started producing Hispanic music (merengue, salsa, etc), with recordings by artists of the caliber of Cuco Valoy and his son Ramon Orlando with his great international orchestra, thus contributing to the international explosion of Merengue and other music styles rooted in the Dominican Republic.
Two years later, J&N Distributors moved to 10th Avenue at the center of the Hispanic Music District in New York City. The same year, J&N opened its J&N Productions business office on 42nd Street in New York City.
J&N was by then a full-fledge record label, with a professional staff servicing all areas of the music business. With an impressive roster of artists, J&N took its place as a significant force in the Hispanic music world.
In 1994, J&N Records signed their first distribution contract with EMI Latin, thanks to the talent and professionalism of the artists it represented. In 1997, they signed a Pressing & Distribution deal with Sony Discos, a relation that continues today.
By the beginning of the new millennium, J&N Records relocated its central office to Miami, the new hub of the international Hispanic music business. J&N is one of the few independents companies to place its artists in Billboard Chart and Billboard Magazine.
The company’s unique style and excellent work environment has attracted a highly qualified staff and earned it a reputation of competence as one of the best record labels in the industry, in all areas of business.
These days, J&N Records and its affiliated labels are proud to represent talented Artists such as Kinito Mendez, Monchy & Alexandra, Magic Juan, Frank Reyes, La Makina, Yoskar Sarante, Puerto Rican Power, Eddy Herrera, Alex Bueno, Rikarena, Wilfrido Vargas among others.
Currently, J&N Records is proud to present its new web page. With this new technology, we are presenting ourselves to all our friends, all over the world.
J&N Records looks forward to its continued growth in the Hispanic music world, forever promoting the best of our Dominican rhythms. |
